The Asia Cup 2023 is set to take place in Pakistan. However, before the 20-20 World Cup 2022, Jay Shah said that the Men in Blue will not visit Pakistan for the tournament and the tournament might get shifted to a neutral venue. Regarding that matter, the Asian Cricket Council's (ACC) emergency meeting took place on 4 February in Bahrain.

After that meeting, reports came out that the tournament is going to get shifted to UAE from Pakistan. Several reports also suggested that if the tournament gets shifted, then the Men in Green will not come to India for the ODI World Cup in 2023. After the meeting, the ACC shared an official statement also.

India will not visit Pakistan due to political barriers

The ACC said: "The ACC had a constructive dialogue on the upcoming Asia Cup 2023. The Board agreed to continue discussions on operations, timelines, and any other specifics with a view to ensuring the success of the tournament. An update on the matter would be taken on the next ACC Executive Board Meeting to be held in March 2023". Regarding that, team India’s spinner Ravichandran Ashwin also shared his views on his official YouTube channel.

He said: “Asia Cup was supposed to take place in Pakistan. But, India has announced that if it takes place in Pakistan, then we won't be participating. If you want us to participate, then do change the venue. But we would have seen this happen many times, right? When we say Asia Cup won't go to their place, they will say that they will also not come to our place. But however, I think that is not possible.”

Now, reports have come out that India would be playing all of their matches in UAE. But, all other matches of the tournament will be played in Pakistan as per plans. If India manage to get into the final, then the final will take place in the UAE. Hearing such reports, fans shared their views on the social media platform.
