‘Ghante ke World Champions’ - Fans troll England as Bangladesh whitewash them 3-0 in T20I series

On 14 March 2023, Bangladesh took on England in the third match of the three-match T20I series in Mirpur. The home team already sealed the series by winning the first two matches. So, the Bangla Tigers were looking for a whitewash over the current World Champions in the shortest format of the game.

Speaking of the match, England won the toss and opted to field first. For Bangladesh, Litton Das and Rony Talukdar came out to open the innings. The skipper scored 73 runs off 57 balls, including 10 boundaries and one six. He batted at a strike rate of 128.07. Along with him, Rony scored 24 runs off 22 balls.

Then, Najmul Hossain Shanto scored 47* runs off 36 balls, including one boundary and two sixes. He batted at a strike rate of 130.55. Thus, finally, the Bangla Tigers scored 158 runs for just two wickets in 20 overs. For England, Adil Rashid and Chris Jordan took one wicket each. Then, in reply, for the visitors, Dawid Malan and Phil Salt came out to open. Salt got out on a golden duck and Malan scored 53 runs off 47 balls, including six fours ad two sixes.

He batted at a strike rate of 112.76. Then, skipper Jos Buttler scored 40 runs off 31 runs, including four boundaries and one six. After that, other batters came up with some little contributions as England managed only 142 runs for six wickets in 20 overs. Thus, the home side managed a victory by 16 runs and completed the whitewash over the visitors. For Bangladesh, Taskin Ahmed took two wickets while Tanvir Islam, Shakib Al Hasan, and Mustafizur Rahman took one wicket each. Litton Das won the player of the match award while Najmul Hossain Shanto won the player of the series award for scoring 144 runs.
