'Get bath before the league' - Fans react as inaugural match of SA20 2024 gets soaked in rain

The match between Joburg Super Kings (JSK) and Sunrisers Eastern Cape (SUNE) ended without a ball being bowled. The inaugural match of the 2nd edition of SA20 saw rain interruption. The match did not even witness the toss as there was a delayed start due to the wet outfield. At no point, it seem like the play would be possible given how it rained in the middle.

The forecast for the match was bad. The players from both sides were excited for the match. The fans had arrived to watch the match hoping for some sort of entertainment. Unfortunately, everyone was disappointed. The match between Sunrisers Eastern Cape and JSK was expected to be a cracker of a contest. For the bad luck of everyone, not even the toss could happen.

There was a huddle amongst the players from either side who were eagerly waiting for the match to start. what was witnessed in the middle was the talks and talks of the umpires and the match officials. There were rain readings throughout the day. Unfortunately, no action was possible in the middle. It was the worst possible start for SA20 which has already been surrounded with controversies.

While the season opener turned out to be a total disappointment for the fans, the second match promises to be a good contest. At St George's Park, the play was not possible. However, the fans are expecting Durban Super Giants vs MI Cape Town to be a good contest between bat and ball. The match involves some of the biggest stars in the sport in the last few years.

The likes of Nicholas Pooran, Kieron Pollard, Heinrich Klaasen, Keshav Maharaj, Kagiso Rabada, Dwaine Pretorius, and Quinton De Kock will be in action in what turns out to be the first match to be played in the edition, provided rain allows the proceedings. The two sides would be looking forward to starting their campaign on a good note. The fans would be looking forward to a better start to the tournament.
