It’s no secret that Gautam Gambhir is not a fan of MS Dhoni. The former opener never shies away from taking a dig at MSD. The southpaw even indirectly blamed MS Dhoni for distracting him during the 2011 CWC final against Sri Lanka. Gambhir said Dhoni made him realize about the landmark (hundred) which got him to lose his focus that resulted in him playing a rash shot and lose his wicket, three short of a hundred. The former opener was quoted as saying by The Week:

"I tell every youngster and every person that before getting to 97, I never thought about my own individual score but looked at the target set by Sri Lanka. I remember that when an over was completed, I and Dhoni were at the crease. He told me that 'these three runs are remaining, get these three runs and your hundred would be completed.'

"That’s why… till I was on 97, I was in the present, but as soon as I thought, I am three runs away from getting a hundred, then that rush of blood caused by the desire to get to a hundred (took over).

"That’s why it’s so important to remain in the present… when I was walking back to the dressing room after being dismissed, I said to myself that these three runs would trouble me for the rest of my life and that is true. Even to this day, people ask me why I couldn’t get those three runs.”

Gambhir is also not amused by the iconic status given to the final six hit by MSD in the World Cup final. Gambhir believes that the win was a team effort and hence an individual’s achievement should not be highlighted. MS Dhoni and Gautam Gambhir were the hero of the CWC final in 2011. While Gambhir was dismissed for 97, Dhoni remained unbeaten on 91.

Today, as MS Dhoni turned 40, the cricket fraternity extended their greetings to the former skipper. However, Gambhir, which could well be unintentional, did something that didn’t go well with Dhoni’s fans. The southpaw changed his Facebook cover photo and uploaded a picture of himself from the 2011 CWC final. Soon, Gambhir started trending on social media and fans started trolling him for his move. Here are some of the Twitter reactions.
