"The new Lucknow franchise of the Indian T20 League has roped in Gautam Gambhir in its support staff. The two-time IPL winning captain, who has been a vocal IPL analyst of the league, will join the team as a mentor. The news was confirmed to Cricbuzz by franchise owner Sanjiv Goenka on Saturday (December 18), read a report in Cricbuzz

Meanwhile, speculations are doing rounds that KL Rahul will lead the team in the next season. While an official confirmation is still pending, the hiring of Andy Flower is a big hint. Several reports stated that Rahul does not want to play for Punjab anymore. He was even not retained by the franchise ahead of the mega auction despite his stellar form in the previous edition. The new franchises are allowed to pick three players outside the auction and if reports are to be believed, KL Rahul and Rashid Khan are almost confirmed to represent the franchise.

Meanwhile, Gambhir is one of the most successful skippers of the gala event, having led Kolkata to title wins on two occasions. He is also among the highest runs scorers in the tournament.
