As a skipper, Rohit had two great games. Even, as an individual batter, he has managed a great run so far in this series. After two Tests, the team India skipper scored 183 runs in three innings. Therefore, fans were expecting to see him in such a form once again in the Indore Test. Meanwhile, all eyes were on him regarding his decision over KL Rahul’s inclusion.

Before the match, Rohit opened up about the whole matter while talking to the reporters. He said: “As far as Gill and KL both are concerned, that is how they train and practice before any game. Today was an optional training session for the entire group. All 17-18 are in the reckoning. It's not just about Gill and Rahul. But as far as our XI is concerned, we have not finalised it yet. I prefer it to be announced at the toss. Can't count out last-minute injuries and all and we will keep it interesting for you guys as well." Speaking of the match, Rohit Sharma won the toss and opted to bat first.

He also confirmed that Shubman Gill and Umesh Yadav have replaced KL Rahul and Mohammed Shami respectively. Both Gill and Rohit came out to open the winnings. But, the Indian skipper departed after scoring just 12 runs off 23 runs, including three fours. In the first over of the match only, he survived twice as the umpire did not give him out on a caught-behind and LBW appeal. The Aussies did not take any reviews and replays confirmed that Rohit should have given out on those. So, fans were not happy with the skipper as he failed to make it big despite being survived twice during his short stay at the crease.
