Gambhir not happy with Umesh Yadav going sold for only Rs 1 crore

The Delhi Capitals (DC) managed to pocket Indian speedster Umesh Yadav for his base price of 1 Crore. In fact, after the 2020 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), Yadav was released by the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) side.

Yadav played just 2 matches in the 13^th IPL edition, and went wicketless in both the games that he played. Former Indian batsman Gautam Gambhir has said that he was absolutely shocked to find that Yadav was sold for just 1 Crore and added that there aren’t many bowlers who can consistently clock 140 Kmph. Gambhir admitted that Yadav can blow hot and cold sometimes, but stressed that when he is at his best, not many teams can handle the pacer comfortably.

“Umesh Yadav, I was absolutely shocked when he went for Rs 1 crore, there are not many fast bowlers who can bowl 135-140. Yes, he can be a little hot and cold, but when he is hot he can be very hot, but then not many teams went for him,” said Gambhir in a chat on Star Sports.

Gambhir further added that Umesh Yadav was indeed a great pick for the Delhi Capitals, as he brings with him a wealth of experience. The former Kolkata skipper concluded by stating that he is hopeful that Umesh experiences a good IPL season with the Delhi side.

“It was a great buy for Delhi because Delhi wanted someone like Umesh Yadav with that kind of an experience because Ishant Sharma is not fit, they had to bowl someone like Tushar Deshpande, where there was not enough experience. Now they have got Umesh Yadav, so hopefully, he can do well for them,” concluded Gambhir.
