On 23 February 2023, Peshawar Zalmi took on Islamabad United in the ongoing Pakistan Super League in Karachi. Both teams were looking to improve their position at the table by winning this clash. However, Islamabad United won the toss and opted to field first. Thus, the Babar Azam-led team got the opportunity to bat first.

For Peshawar Zalmi, skipper Babar Azam and Mohammad Haris came out to open the innings. Both of them scored 76 runs in seven overs for the first wicket. Mohammad Haris scored 40 runs off 21 balls, including four boundaries and one six. But, During that innings, the Pakistan skipper got involved in a funny incident with Hasan Ali, which has now gone viral.

Speaking of the video, Babar Azam was seen taking a single while Hasan Ali was bowling. But, the Pakistan skipper was seen with a gesture that he seemed to hit the bowler with the bat. Fans found the video funny and they shared it instantly on social media platforms. Speaking of the match, Peshawar Zalmi scored 156 runs in 20 overs for eight wickets. Despite having a great start, all batters failed to score big runs. Babar was the highest scorer with 75* runs off 58 balls, including seven fours and one six. For Islamabad United, Hasan Ali took three wickets for 35 runs in four overs. 

Apart from him, Rumman Raees, Hasan Ali, Faheem Ashraf, Shadab Khan, and Mubasir Khan took one wicket each. But, in reply, the Islamabad side batted brilliantly as they chased down the target in just 14.5 overs. Rahmanulaah Gurbaz scored 62 runs off 31 balls, including seven boundaries and four sixes. Rassie van der Dussen scored 42 runs off 29 balls and Asif Ali scored 29* runs off 13 balls. For Peshawar Zalmi, only three bowlers managed to take one wicket each. With this loss, Babar Azam and his men are now in the fourth position with four points in four games.
