Bangalore franchise will kick off their Indian T20 League 2023 campaign on 2 April at the Chinnaswamy stadium against the Mumbai franchise. After failing to win the trophy since last 15 years, they will finally look to win it this time around. Meanwhile, before the tournament, they organised an unbox even where they inducted both AB de Villiers and Chris Gayle in to the Hall of Fame.
They even retired their jerseys as a mark of respect based on their unconditional contributions to the team. But, now, ahead of the tournament, both of them are a part of the star-studded commentary panel for Jio Cinema. There, they came up with their preferred top four teams for this edition of the tournament. De Villiers picked Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, and Gujarat. But, Chris Gayle picked Lucknow, Gujarat, Mumbai, and Rajasthan.

Seeing that prediction, fans went crazy and started to slam the Caribbean batter on the social media platform. The Bangalore fans were not happy at all as he had been an integral part of that franchise between 2011 to 2017. During that tenure, Chris Gayle scored 3163 runs, including five centuries in 83 matches. So, it was quite surprising to see him not taking Bangalore’s name as one of the top four teams for this season.
In a recent episode of the Bold diaries, presented by the Bangalore franchise, both Gayle and de Villiers were seen having a chat with the full team ahead of the tournament. Chris Gayle said: “In my mind, when I arrived, I waited for my kit bag. I didn’t get my kit bag. I am always saying that I still have more in me. However, jokes apart. Faf, I want to wish you and the boys all the very best. You are a great leader. You have a great team. You guys have a great captain. Support him and you will get the result. Most importantly, you must enjoy the game. Play it hard but when it’s work time, it’s work time. Have a lot of fun but when it’s work time, just switch on and let’s play the game hard.”
