India defeated New Zealand in the final of the Champions Trophy 2025 on Sunday. India chased down the target of 252 runs in 49 overs with four wickets in hand. Rohit Sharma scored 76 runs off 83 deliveries and won the Player of the Match award. He became only the fourth captain to win the Player of the Match award in the final of an ICC ODI event and only the second Indian captain after MS Dhoni.

It was Rohit’s 25th Player of the Match award in ODIs. He is the fifth most successful Indian player in terms of winning the Player of the Match awards. Sachin Tendulkar (62), Virat Kohli (43), Saurav Ganguly (31), and Yuvraj Singh (27) are the other Indian players on this list.

Rohit has featured in the last three editions of the Champions Trophy for India. He has made 661 runs at an average of 47.21 and a strike rate of 86.63. The Indian captain has hit one century and five half-centuries.

Rachin Ravindra won the Player of the Tournament award. He made 263 runs in four matches at an average of 65.75 and a strike rate of 106.47. With the ball, he picked three wickets at an average of 32.66, an economy of 4.66, and a strike rate of 42.
