Moreover, further into the case, reports suggest that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Founder Imran Khan, along with Vice Chairman Shah Mahmood Qureshi, allegedly leaked state documents. The issue revolves around a diplomatic file, which, as per the Federal Investigation Agency's charge sheet, was not returned by Imran Khan. In a statement by his political party, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has said that the party will challenge this decision.

“Pakistan stands with Imran Khan and Shah Mehmood Qureshi, who defended Pakistan and stood for Haqeeqi Azadi. No such sham trial can change what happened in March- April 2022, on the orders of Donald Lu,” the PTI wrote on Twitter.

The PTI added that it was a “complete mockery and disregard of law in the cypher case”, urging people to vote in the February 8 general elections.

Imran Khan reacts to 10 years of jail sentence

The 71-year-old expressed his initial response after receiving a 10-year jail sentence, alleging the violation of constitutional requirements. The 1992 World Cup winner, addressed the public, suggesting that they had likely been informed by his legal team about the trial proceedings of the cypher and other fabricated cases, which, according to him, were being conducted in contravention of constitutional provisions and legal statutes.

"My Pakistanis! You all must have heard by now from my lawyers how the trial of Cypher and other false cases is being completed in violation of constitutional requirements and legal regulations. Remember that Cipher is a case which has been declared null and void twice by the Islamabad High Court and ordered to be re-tried because both time the case was tried to be run in violation of the constitution and the law. Then the Supreme Court has also given me bail in this case because the whole building of this case has been built on lies, bullying, conspiracy and deceit," Imran Khan further added.
