Former Kolkata Knight Riders top-order batter Manvinder Bisla, who played match-winning knocks for his franchise during his time in the IPL, has slammed the Indian head coach Gautam Gambhir’s critics after India bagged a 336-run win over England in Birmingham.
It’s worth noting that Bisla featured for the Kolkata-based franchise between 2011 to 2014, playing under the leadership of Gambhir. His best knock of the IPL came against CSK when he scored 89 runs off 48 balls in the IPL 2012 final, propelling his side to the maiden title win.
Bisla took to X (Formerly Twitter) to state his opinion, asserting that narratives quickly change than the scoreboard. Moving into the details, there was a lot of discussion on Gambhir and Gill messing up the playing after India lost the Leeds Test.
In fact, a lot of fans took a dig at the coach and captain duo after Kuldeep Yadav was excluded from the XI for the Birmingham Test. However, Gill’s twin centuries and Akash Deep’s heroics propelled Team India to a historic win.
As India bagged its biggest away win, Bisla slammed the social media critics for blaming Gambhir for the Leeds Test loss and not giving him enough credit for the Birmingham Test victory.
“Before the Test: @GautamGambhir messed up the XI. After the win: @ShubmanGill era begins. Narratives change faster than the scorecard. PS: Both are leaders — credit goes to the whole team for this famous win,” Bisla wrote on X.

Delving into the details of the Birmingham Test, the Indian team, led by Gill, bagged the first-ever victory in Tests at Edgbaston. Earlier, in eight attempts, India suffered seven defeats and managed a draw.
"All the things we spoke about after the first game, we were spot on with all of those things. Our bowling and fielding was tremendous to see. On this kind of wicket, we knew if we get 400-500 on this kind of wicket, we'll be in the game. Not every time we're going to drop that many catches that we did in Headingley," Shubman Gill said after the win.
