Former Indian opener and commentator Aakash Chopra has opened up on the Indian pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah’s poor show in the fifth and final T20I against New Zealand as the hosts bagged a comfortable 46-run win to win the series 4-1.

While all other bowlers had a decent outing, Bumrah went on to concede a whopping 58 runs in his four-over spell at an economy of 14.5 without picking up a wicket. Chasing 271 runs, New Zealand could score only 225 runs in 19.4 overs.

"The big question will be what has happened to Jasprit Bumrah. So many sixes. We used to make fun when Sahibzada Farhan made a documentary, but when did he use to get hit for so many sixes?" Chopra said on his YouTube channel.

"Most expensive spell in his T20I career. He conceded more than 50 runs after four years. He got hit for sixes, conceded runs, and didn't pick up a wicket. Bumrah's pace has increased, but he generally doesn't get hit that easily. The heart is pulsating slightly," he added.

On the other hand, Chopra heaped praise on Arshdeep Singh, who scalped his maiden five-wicket haul, conceding 51 runs in his four-over spell. While he conceded a lot of runs in his first two overs, he turned the tables in his second spell to hand India a comfortable victory.

"Arshdeep took a five-wicket haul. That's another story because he has taken a five-wicket haul for the first time. He conceded 17 runs in his first over and 23 runs in his second over, 40 runs in two overs, and you say the day was going badly. He said things might change if he keeps working hard," he said.

"He took a five-wicket haul, the first time ever in his career. He was outstanding towards the end. The start was very ordinary, but he made an incredible comeback after that, and this has been a season of comebacks," he concluded.
