The injuries to pacers such as Harshal Patel and Jasprit Bumrah have created problems for the India Cricket Team in the lead up to the T20 World Cup 2022. Recently, the Indian Cricket Board selectors had reportedly asked Mohammed Shami that he wouldn't be considered for the T20I format. However, injuries to Patel and Bumrah have forced them to think otherwise. He might be considered for the upcoming 20-20 World Cup.

However, it is important to understand that this isn't made official as of now. On the other hand, Bumrah is likely to missing the showpiece event. It will be interesting to see how Patel recovers. Meanwhile, one of the selectors has reportedly said that the reason not to include Shami was to manage his workload.

However, the selectors also maintained that the injuries to their two pacers have forced them to fall back on the Bengal player. He added that the right-arm pacer understands the Australian conditions and the final call on him will be taken later.

“See, Shami isn’t getting any younger and that is why we have to manage his workload too. That is the reason he was informed about T20s (Not selecting). But if we have two premier pacers injured, we have to fall back on someone reliable in Australia. Shami understands the conditions better than anybody and could be a great asset. A final call on him will be taken only at a later stage,” a member of the selection committee told InsideSport.

Recently, when the 31-year-old wasn't included in the Asia Cup squad, the fans trolled the Indian Cricket Board. The tournament will be played in the T20I format. Interestingly enough, now that he might be considered for the 20-20 World Cup, the fans are now not in the favor of a possible selection of the Amroha-born player.

They feel that he is one of the most expensive bowlers when it comes to the slam-bang format. One fan claims that the team might lose another World Cup.
