Former Pakistan cricketer Shahid Afridi is one of the most popular cricketers to have played the game. The swashbuckling batter enjoys a massive fan following across the globe. The all-rounder, who is still an active cricketer and play franchise cricket, is participating in the Everest Premier League (EPL). The veteran is representing Kathmandu Kings XI in the tournament and played his first game today. As soon as Afridi stepped on the park to take the field, fans went berserk watching the Pakistan stalwart. Afridi too obliged by shaking hands with the fans.

Talking about his performance, Afridi gave 32 runs in his four overs without picking up a wicket, while he didn’t get an opportunity to bat as Kathmandu Kings defeated defending Champions Lalitpur Patriots with just three wickets down.

The ongoing season of the Everest Premier League is the fourth edition of the tournament. The T20 extravaganza got bigger when several international stars including Afridi, Dinesh Chandimal, Tamim Iqbal decided to put their name in the hat. The tournament will be played in round-robin format where each team will play five games in the league stage. The top two teams will meet in the qualifier where the winner will qualify for the final while the loser will get another shot in the eliminator.

Meanwhile, Afridi, who plays for Multan Sultans in the PSL, recently hinted that he is considering retirement from all forms of cricket. The veteran said the upcoming season of the PSL might be his last and expressed his wish to end his career while playing for Quetta Gladiators.

“Maybe this ends up being my last PSL. I would like to play for Quetta Gladiators this season, provided Multan allows me to leave. If Nadeem Omar and Quetta’s owners want to have me, I would love to represent them,” Afridi was quoted as saying by ESPNcricinfo.
