Moeen Ali made a comeback in the ongoing first Test of the Ashes 2023 against Australia at Edgbaston. After taking retirement from the longest format of the game in 2021, he has now made a comeback in the red-ball format. However, he replaced the injured Jack Leach in the team. On day one, he got the opportunity to bat and scored 18 runs off 17 balls, including two fours and one six.

But, on day two, he came up to bowl in the first session. So, England’s Barmy army came up with a tweet to welcome him. But, they shared a clip where Ali was seen taking the wicket for Virat Kohli during a Test match in India. That did not go well with the fans as they slammed the Barmy army brutally.

Here is the shared tweet:

They shared the tweet with the caption: “Mo back with the red ball in hand #Ashes.” Speaking of the clip, it was the second Test match between India and England in 2021 in Chennai. Virat Kohli got out for a duck off five balls in the first innings. Moeen Ali tossed it up and found the drift that helped the ball to hit the top of the off stump. Virat was left stunned as he went for an audacious drive and the ball went through the gap between his bat and pads.

However, about Moeen Ali’s comeback, the Managing Director of England Men’s Cricket, Rob Key said: “We reached out to Mo (Moeen Ali) early this week about returning to Test cricket. Having had a couple of days to reflect, Mo is excited to join the squad and play Test cricket again. His vast experience, along with his all-round ability, will benefit our Ashes campaign. We wish Mo and the rest of the squad well for the Ashes campaign.” Meanwhile, Ali failed to take any wickets in the first session as he conceded 21 runs in seven overs, including one maiden.
