Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) have won and lost one game each so far in the ongoing IPL 2023. However, they dealt with a blow as Reece Topley got injured in their season opener against Mumbai. Hence, against KKR, David Willey played in the playing XI. But, now reports have come out that the Protea pacer, Wayne Parnell has been signed by the franchise for the remainder of the tournament.
According to the reports of clubcricket.co.za, RCB have signed him as a replacement for Topley. Seeing such a report, fans have now shared some mixed views on the social media platform. Wayne Parnell last played in IPL in 2014. In this year’s auction, his base price was INR 75 Lakhs. But, no franchises showed any interest in him and hence, Parnell went unsold.

However, he has become a great part of South Africa in recent series in the white-ball formats. So, he can help RCB to bolster their overall side for the remaining part of the tournament. As of now, Wayne Parnell has played 26 matches in IPL. In those matches, he has scored 63 runs while taking 26 wickets. Speaking of RCB, they won against MI while losing the second game against KKR. After losing the game against KKR, the RCB skipper, Faf du Plessis was not happy with his batters and their approach. During the post-match presentation ceremony, Faf said: “We had set it up nicely with the ball, probably at 100/5 around 13 overs, we kind of gave away 20-25 runs extra on that wicket. Shardul played incredibly well, he took the game away from us and KKR’s leg-spinners bowled brilliantly. They got on top of us, with Narine and Chakaravarthy, they put the squeeze on us really well. Because that’s the nature of leg spinners or mystery spinners. It was still a good wicket, our batting was very average and even when we lose games like these we need to ensure that we get close to the target, at least around 160 tonight”.
