With the mega auction all set to take place on February 12 and 13, several players would be hoping to bag an Indian T20 League contract. However, individuals don't get a chance to choose the franchise they want to play for. Yet, they would certainly have a team in their mind, which they would love to represent in an ideal scenario.
Thus, Dinesh Karthik has his preferences as well. The keeper-batter represented the Kolkata for four seasons (2018-2021). As a matter of fact, he even led the Knights for a while.
When recently asked about which team if would like to play for, Karthik said that it’s hard to pick a team of his choice. However, he added that it would be great if he gets picked by the Chennai . It is to be noted that he has been rigorously training in order to get match ready.
“It’s very hard for me to answer this question because it will be a very cliched answer. I’ll try and do everything that I can, not only to do well for the franchisee I play for but for myself also. Look, it’s great if I can play for CSK. I’m from Chennai," said Dinesh Karthik, as quoted by News 18.
"But at the end of the day, what’s important for me is whichever team that I get to play in, it will be an absolute honour because as I said, all this practice that I’ve been doing these days is to try and do well in a tournament like the IPL,” he added.
Karthik then spoke about how age isn't something that normal people look at. He cited the example of Shikhar Dhawan scoring runs despite not having age on his side. Thus, the Tamil Nadu cricketer is hopeful of playing for India again.
“Age is definitely not the thing that a lot of normal people look at it (for India comeback). Shikhar Dhawan was the highest run-getter (in ODIs in South Africa) and we are the same age. Experience is a very important factor in multi-nation tournaments. You could see that very evidently in the last few tournaments that have been held," he said.
