“His performance has gone completely under the radar” - Ex-Indian pacer on Harshit Rana’s four-wicket haul in Sydney

Former Indian pacer Varun Aaron has heaped praise on the young and promising Indian pacer Harshit Rana, who scalped four wickets, conceding only 39 runs in 8.4 overs in the Sydney ODI against Australia on Saturday, October 25.

Speaking exclusively on Star Sports, Varun has emphasized that Rana’s four-wicket haul has completely gone under the radar because of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli’s unbeaten 168-run partnership in the chase.

It’s important to note that the Sydney wicket for completely assisting batters on Saturday. However, Rana produced an exceptional spell, scalping the timely wickets of Alex Carey, Cooper Connolly, Mitchell Owen, and Josh Hazlewood to put India back in the game.

"First of all, his performance has gone completely under the radar because everybody wanted a RoKo show. They got a Roko show, but the man who set it up for Rohit and Kohli was actually Harshit Rana. On a wicket that was not helpful for the bowlers, he bowled a very, very good spell," said Aaron on the Star Sports show 'Follow The Blues'.

"We saw a lot of nuance from Harshit. He got the ball to go out. He bowled really good slower balls, and then backed it up with very good line and length. Again, somebody who is learning. The team management has really backed him, and he is coming good," he added.

For the unversed, Kohli smacked an unbeaten 74 while Rohit scored 121* to take India home in 38.3 overs with nine wickets in hand in the SCG ODI, propelling India to a consolation win in the three-match ODI series. 

Earlier in the first innings, Australia posted 236 runs before getting bundled out in 46.4 overs. Matt Renshaw was the star performer with the willow for the Aussies, scoring 56 runs in 58 balls with two boundaries.
