'Every gully cricketer in India' - Fans lash out at Mohammed Siraj as he argues with umpire over an overthrow call

Mohammed Siraj produced a very good spell by scalping three wickets in 10 overs by conceding just 38 runs with one maiden to his name in the second match of the ODI series against South Africa. He is playing in the b-string team of India led by the senior batter Shikhar Dhawan.

The 28-year-old enjoyed a good outing in the penultimate fixture of the ODI series. Although, apart from his bowling, he made it to the headlines of social media for another reason. It all happened when he went on to argue with the on-field umpire after throwing away the ball for extra four runs.

Although, this attitude from Siraj didn’t go down well with some of the cricket fans. They took no time in lashing out at the Indian speedster on the social media platform Twitter.

This incident happened in the 48th over of the first innings when Siraj successfully beat Keshav Maharaj, who was playing on the strike. Indian wicketkeeper Sanju Samson went on to return the ball to Siraj who attempted to run out David Miller at the non-striker’s end.

Speaking of the match, then the duo of Reeza Hendricks and Aiden Markram played brilliant half-century knocks of 74 and 79 runs respectively. Other than these two, Heinrich Klassen and David Miller also played the vital knocks of 30 and 35 runs. On the backs of these knocks, the visitors managed to post a total of 278 runs for the loss of seven wickets in the allotted 50 overs.

While chasing the target, the pair of Ishan Kishan and Shreyas completely turned the match one-sidedly in the favor of India. They stitched an amazing partnership of 161 runs for the third wicket. Ishan Kishan fell prey to Fortuin on the individual score of 93 runs and missed the century by seven runs.

Whereas, Shreyas Iyer silenced the critics with his outstanding century-knock of 113 runs off 111 balls with 15 boundaries to his name. Eventually, India won the match by seven wickets and scored 282 runs for the loss of three wickets with 4.1 overs to spare.

India has now leveled the three-match series by a margin of 1-1 whereas Shreyas was awarded ‘the player of the match award for his match-defining knock.
