In an interesting turn of events, the England Women’s team, led by Nat Sciver Brunt, has been fined 10 percent of their match fee for maintaining a slow over-rate against India Women in the first T20I at Trent Bridge on Saturday, June 28.

“England have been fined 10 percent of their match fee for maintaining a slow over-rate against India in the first Women’s T20I in Nottingham on Saturday,” the ICC media release stated.
“Helen Pack of the Emirates ICC International Panel of Match Referees imposed the sanction as England were ruled to be two overs short of the target after time allowances were taken into consideration,” the statement added.
“In accordance with Article 2.22 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to minimum over-rate offences, players are fined five per cent of their match fee for every over if their side fails to bowl in the allotted time,” it further read.
“England captain Nat Sciver-Brunt pleaded guilty to the offence and accepted the proposed sanction, so there was no need for a formal hearing. On-field umpires Jacqueline Williams and James Middlebrook, third umpire Sue Redfern, and fourth umpire Anna Harris leveled the charge,” the statement concluded.
Moving into the details of the game, India Women batted first and posted a dominating total of 210/5 in 20 overs. Stand-in captain Smriti Mandhana was the star of the show with 112 runs off 62 balls. Lauren Bell was the star bowler for England, scalping three wickets for 27 runs.
In response, England Women could score only 113 runs in 14.5 overs, losing the game by 97 runs. Captain Nat Sciver Brunt was the star batter with 66 runs in 42 balls with 10 fours. Shree Charani was the key bowler with a four-wicket haul, conceding 12 runs in 3.5 overs.
