Both Stuart Broad and Chris Woakes are currently busy in the ongoing Ashes 2023 as the fourth Test is all set to begin on 19 July in Manchester. However, Woakes made a comeback in the red ball format after a long gap of 16 months and played an instrumental role in England’s victory in the third Test.

Now, Ben Stokes and his men will look to continue their momentum into the Manchester Test as they will look to make the series 2-2 with the fifth Test to go. But, now, ahead of the Manchester clash, England pacer, Broad shared that his wife, Mollie King’s favourite cricketer is not him, it is his teammate Chris Woakes, especially after his efforts at Headingly.

“I’m obviously desperate to be part of next week” - Chris Woakes

In his column for The Daily Mail, Broad wrote: "Woakesy’s just an amazing cricketer. My wife, Mollie, told me he was her favourite player, to which I replied: ‘What about me?’ She said: ‘You’re second.’ Thanks very much. The biggest compliment I can pay him is that he’s helped win two World Cup finals, but last week at Headingley was the most important all-round contribution he has made." Notably, Mollie King is an English pop singer, radio presenter and a member of the girl group The Saturdays. In the third Test, Woakes took three wickets each in each innings while scoring 10 runs in the first innings and 32* runs in the second innings.

Meanwhile, Woakes also sent a strong message on his desperation to be a part of the playing XI for the next match to Ben Stokes and head coach, Brendon McCullum. While speaking to Sky Sports, he said: “When you get the opportunity to play in an Ashes series then you try and take it with both hands. I feel like last week went very well for myself and the team and when you win a game of cricket you obviously want to be part of the next game. I’m obviously desperate to be part of next week, but at the same time I’ll get there, try and perform well in practice, do my right prep and the selection is out of my control. What will be will be but hopefully I get the nod.”
