ENG vs IND: Weather Forecast for Day 4 of Edgbaston Test

Team India will begin Day 4 of the ongoing Edgbaston Test with a strong upper hand. They lead England by 244 runs with nine wickets in hand, and their main goal will be to bat long and set a massive target. However, their plans could be interrupted by rain, as the weather forecast for the day doesn’t look very promising.

Advertisment

According to AccuWeather.com, there's an 84% chance of rain on Day 4. The morning session is likely to be affected, with 60% probability of showers and 71% humidity. Overcast skies are expected throughout the day, with 99% cloud cover.

A couple of rain spells are likely, and while the evening session has a slightly lower chance of rain (55% precipitation), the conditions will still favour the bowlers. The overcast weather could help the England pacers swing the ball, making it tricky for India’s batters.

India in Control After Siraj’s Heroics

Advertisment

India had a fantastic start to Day 3, removing both Joe Root and Ben Stokes in consecutive balls thanks to Mohammed Siraj. England were reduced to 84/5, and the visitors looked well on course to take a huge first-innings lead.

But then came a stunning counter-attack from Jamie Smith and Harry Brook, who added a record 303-run stand for the sixth wicket. Smith played a sensational knock, scoring a joint-third fastest Test century for England in just 80 balls. Brook also reached a century, and at one point, both batters looked set for double tons.

India took the second new ball at the 80-over mark, and it paid off immediately. Akash Deep bowled Brook for 158, breaking the massive partnership. After that, Siraj and Deep ran through the rest of the batting order. England were eventually bowled out for 407.

Smith remained unbeaten on 184, but the hosts failed to build on the momentum. Siraj finished with 6/70, while Akash Deep impressed with 4/88. With a healthy 180-run lead, India’s openers came out with intent. Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul added 51 runs in just 7.4 overs, with Jaiswal scoring 28 off 22 balls before getting out.

At stumps, Rahul and Karun Nair remained unbeaten, taking India to 64/1. They now lead by 244 runs, heading into a crucial Day 4.
