In what comes as a massive blow to the Indian people, veteran single Lata Mangeshkar breathed her last today. She passed away at the age of 92. The legend was diagnosed with COVID-19 and was admitted to Breach Candy Hospital on January 8. She was ICU ever since. While there were reports that Lata Ji has started to show improvement, she couldn't survive the deadly virus.

Lata Mangeshkar was an Indian icon and won several awards in her illustrious career. She won the Dada Saheb Phalke award in 1989 and went on to win the Bharat Ratna in 2001. She also won three National Film Awards, 15 Bengal Film Journalists' Association Awards, four Filmfare Best Female Playback Awards, two Filmfare Special Awards, Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award. In a career that lasted for more than seven decades, Lata Mangeshkar sang many iconic songs.

Lata Mangeshkar was also a great fan of cricket and never missed an opportunity to congratulate the Indian team on their victory. The cricket fraternity was stunned by the demise of Lata Mangeshkar and took to Twitter to mourn her death.
