On 9 March 2023, team India locked horns with Australia in the fourth Test of the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy. After losing the Indore Test, an enthralling battle was waiting for both teams and their fans in Ahmedabad. Rohit Sharma and his men were looking for a win to ensure their place in the final of the World Test Championship.

But, all eyes were on the Prime ministers of both countries as they were supposed to attend the match. Earlier reports came out that, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will watch that match with Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese from the stadium. It will be Albanese’s first India tour if he comes after he became the Prime Minister in May 2022.

However, they visited the stadium and attended a program in order to celebrate the 75 years of friendship between India and Australia. They also took a round of the massive sports arena on a golf car before the start of the match. Both Modi and Albanese were also present with the players during the National Anthem. However, an image has gone viral where both Modi and Albanese presented special Test caps to Rohit and Smith respectively. Seeing that, fans went crazy and shared some funny tweets on social media.

However, during the pre-match conference, Rohit Sharma said: “You just got to go and score runs, find ways to score runs. And that is the talk within the group. Conditions are there for us to play and you’ve got to find a way to score runs whatever the pitches you play on. That is the talk. We’re just trying to figure more and more methods of coming out on top when the pitches are challenging. So yeah, every individual is different and they’ll find their own methods of scoring runs.”

Speaking of the match, Steve Smith won the toss and opted to bat first. The Aussies did not make any changes to their winning playing XI from Indore. While Rohit Sharma confirmed that Mohammed Shami replaced Mohammed Siraj.
