Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have now the joint most number of IPL titles (five) to their name after defeating Gujarat Titans (GT) in the final of the 16th edition of the tournament by five wickets on 29 May 2023 in Ahmedabad. While chasing 171 runs in 15 overs, they held their nerved and cliched a thriller on the last ball. 

Now, the Lucknow Super Giant (LSG) mentor, Gautam Gambhir came up with a tweet to congratulate MS Dhoni and his men. But, it seemed to be a cheeky one as fans found an indirect dig at Virat Kohli and RCB over their trophy even after 16 years into the competition. So, fans shared their views on social media.

Speaking of the tweet, Gambhir wrote: “Congratulations CSK! Winning 1 title is difficult, winning 5 is unbelievable! #IPL2023.” It seemed that the LSG mentor took a dig at Kohli and his RCB franchise at the same time. Since the inception of the tournament, RCB have never won this title so far. While Gambhir has won this title twice as the skipper of Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). In the IPL 2023, LSG vs RCB ended in a heated way due to the ugly verbal spat between Virat Kohli, Naveen-ul-Haq, and Gautam Gambhir. Hence, fans thought that it was just an indirect way to take a dig at the former RCB skipper and his team.   

After the win, MS Dhoni shared his views during the post-match presentation and said: “The kind of cricket I play, they feel they can play that cricket. There’s nothing orthodox about it and I like to keep it simple. I think every trophy or bilateral series you win, it has its own challenges. When it comes to the crunch, you need to have your individuals ready. The amount of pressure every individual can deal with is different. We tried to do that. Ajinkya [Rahane] is experienced, but if they [youngsters] are confused we chat with them.”
