Virat Kohli is currently busy playing for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the ongoing IPL 2023. In the first three matches, Kohli has scored 164 runs, at an average of 82 and a strike rate of 147.75. In the last match against LSG, Kohli scored 61 runs off 44 balls. But, he got criticised heavily for his strike rate. During that innings, he scored 42 runs off 25 balls with four fours and three sixes.

But, after that, the former RCB skipper scored the next eight runs off 10 balls and that did not go well with Simon Doull. On the air, Doull said: “I get that they bowled better but Kohli started off like a train. He was going hammer and tongs, playing a lot of shots. From 42 to 50, he took 10 balls. Concerned about a milestone. I don’t think there’s room for that in the game anymore. Just got to keep going especially with wickets in hand”. It seemed that Harsha Bhogle was with him in the commentary panel but stayed silent.

“They have not been in that situation themselves, they look at the game differently". - Virat Kohli

RCB will be in action against Delhi Capitals on 15 April. Now, ahead of that clash, the star batter has responded to criticism over strike rate while talking to Robin Uthappa in an interview for JioCinema. Kohli said: "Yeah for sure (important anchor role). I completely agree with that, There are many people who because they have not been in that situation themselves, they look at the game differently".

"Suddenly when the powerplay is done, they will be like 'oh, they have started rotating the strike'. When you haven't lost a wicket in the powerplay, usually the best player comes on to bowl, you are trying to figure out what to do against him in the first two overs, so that you can get big ones in the last two overs of that guy and then rest of the innings become much easier," Virat Kohli concluded. Hearing such comments, fans came up and said that the veteran batter took an indirect dig at both Simon Doull and Harsha Bhogle.
