On 15 April, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) locked horns with Delhi Capitals (DC) in the ongoing IPL. RCB were coming off after two consecutive losses while DC were still winless after four games. So, RCB were looking to avoid another loss n front of the home crowd while DC were looking for their first win.

Speaking of the match, Wanindu Hasaranga came into the playing XI for RCB. While Mitchell Marsh made a comeback in the playing XI of DC. David Warner won the toss and asked RCB to bat first at the Chinnaswamy stadium. For the home side, Virat Kohli and skipper Faf du Plessis came out to open the innings.   

RCB defeated DC by 23 runs in IPL 2023

Du Plessis scored 22 runs off 16 balls, including three fours and one six. After that, Mahipal Lomror scored 26 runs off 18 balls, including two fours. Glenn Maxwell showed his hitting skills as he smashed three sixes. In his short stay at the crease, Maxwell scored 24 runs off 14 balls. However, the former RCB skipper, Virat Kohli was the highest scorer with 50 runs off 34 balls, including six fours and one six. In the middle order, Shahbaz Ahmed scored 20* runs off 12 balls. Finally, RCB scored 174 runs for six wickets in 20 overs. For DC, both Mitchell Marsh and Kuldeep Yadav grabbed two wickets each. While Axar Patel and Lalit Yadav picked up one wicket each.

In reply, Delhi Capitals batters had a terrible start to the campaign. Prithvi Shaw and Mitchell Marsh scored ducks. David Warner failed to score big as he got out on 19 runs off 13 balls. Youngster Yash Dhull scored just one run off four balls. Then, Manish Pandey showed some grittiness and scored 50 runs off 38 balls, including five fours and one six. Axar Patel was the last hope for them. But, he also scored just 21 runs off 14 balls, including three fours. Finally, they scored 151 runs in 20 overs for nine wickets and RCB won the match by 23 runs.
