'Ek chance to deserve karta hai' - Fans come in support of Prithvi Shaw after being ignored for Sri Lanka series

The national selectors once again failed to include opening batter Prithvi Shaw in the ODI and T20I squads for the upcoming home series against Sri Lanka. On Tuesday, December 27, the Indian Cricket Board released the names of the two squads. Shaw was not chosen again, despite the fact that many had anticipated he would play for the team for at least one series.

The selectors have consistently ignored the right-handed batter. In July 2021, he played his last game of international cricket against Sri Lanka. Even though he has excelled in domestic cricket, it appears that he has slipped in the standings since Ishan Kishan and Shubman Gill came to prominence.

Notably, Prithvi Shaw is currently competing in the Ranji Trophy 2022–23 season. He hasn't played well so far in the tournament, though, scoring only 42 runs at an average of 10.50 in four innings. However, this year's white-ball domestic competitions saw a significant impact from the Mumbai batter.

Shaw finished the Vijay Hazare Trophy with 217 runs from seven innings after smashing two impressive half-centuries. In 10 games for the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy this year, he scored 332 runs, including a century and a fifty. In the T20 competition, he was his team's leading run-scorer.

Many fans criticised the Indian team management for denying Prithvi Shaw the opportunity to demonstrate his value. "Feel for Prithvi Shaw. He is not selected once again in Team India's any squads against Sri Lanka series," a fan wrote.
