It’s been more than two years since the time the former legendary Indian skipper hung his boots from international cricket. But still, there have been rare instances when has not been the nucleus of the cricket discussions on social media. A similar happened recently when India locked horns with the Netherlands in their second super-12 match of the ongoing 20-20 World Cup 2022.

There came a moment in the match during the eighth over of the Indian inning when senior wicketkeeper Dinesh Karthik happened to miss an easy chance of stumping in Axar Patel’s over. The moment gave a chance to the fans present there in the SCG to remember the former Indian skipper with the chants of ‘Dhoni…Dhoni.’

The video of this moment has now gone viral over social media within minutes of being shared. Some of the Indian fans also reacted to this chant that erupted in the Sydney Cricket Ground during the match between India and Netherlands.

Speaking of the match between India and Netherlands, Indian skipper Rohit Sharma won the toss and decided to bat first on the turf of Sydney Cricket Ground. Batting first, the men in blue posted a handsome total of 179 runs for the loss of only two wickets in the allotted 20 overs.

Skipper Rohit Sharma provided a strong foundation with his half-century knock of 53 runs off just 39 balls. Later on, the celebrated pair of former Indian skipper Virat Kohli and star Indian batting sensation Suryakumar Yadav stitched an unbeaten partnership of 95 runs for the second wicket. They both played the knocks of 62 and 51 runs respectively.

While defending the target, Indian bowlers restricted the Dutch side to 123 runs for the loss of nine wickets in the 20 over. SKY was adjudged ‘player of the match for his brilliant match-defining performance.
