On 26 April 2023, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) took on Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the ongoing IPL. The 36th match of the tournament took place at M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bangalore. In the reverse fixture, KKR defeated RCB at Eden Gardens. So, RCB were looking for a win in front of the home crowd.

However, RCB came to this clash after two consecutive victories. On the other hand, KKR came after losing their last four back-to-back matches. Speaking of the match, Faf du Plessis again remained on the impact player list. So, Virat Kohli came out for the toss and opted to bowl first after winning it.

KKR defeated RCB by 21 runs 

For KKR, Jason Roy and Narayan Jagadeesan came out as openers. Both of them put up a partnership of 83 runs in 9.2 overs for the first wicket. But, Jagadeesan struggled badly as he scored 27 runs off 29 balls. Roy showed some great hitting skills and scored 56 runs off 29 balls, including four fours and five sixes. Then, Venkatesh Iyer scored 31 runs off 26 balls while skipper Nitish Rana played some attacking shots. He scored 48 runs off 21 balls, including three fours and fours sixes before getting out. Russell failed again as he scored one run only. But, Rinku scored 18* runs off 10 balls and David Wiese scored 12* runs off three balls. Thus, KKR reached 200 runs for five wickets in 20 overs.

For RCB, both Hasaranga and Vyshak took two wickets each. Then, for the chase, Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis came out to open. However, du Plessis failed to continue his form as he scored 17 runs off seven balls. After that, Maxwell also departed after scoring five runs off four balls. Thus, RCB managed only 58 runs for three wickets after the first six overs. After that, Mahipal Romror played some shots and scored 34 runs off 18 balls. Then, Russell took the wicket of Virat Kohli as he scored 54 runs off 37 balls. After that, other batters tried hard but RCB scored 179 runs for eight wickets in 20 overs. Thus, KKR won the match by 21 runs.
