Dinesh Karthik is currently out of contention for team India in any format of the game. He last played for the Men in Blue in the 20-20 World Cup. After that, the selectors decided not to consider him in the shortest format of the game anymore in the following series. However, reports are there that Dinesh Karthik will be a part of the commentary team in the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

Now, ahead of the first Test, Karthik announced a question-answer session with his fans. In the AskDK session, Karthik interacted with his fans and answered some hilarious questions. He tweeted: “It's been a long time... let's do an #AskDK Let's go!!” Then, during that session, a fan came up with a question regarding his knock against the Kiwis in the 2019 ODI World Cup Semi-final.

Here is the shared tweet:

Give him the opportunity. He has been in red-hot form.” - Dinesh Karthik on Suryakumar Yadav

Speaking of that innings, Dinesh Karthi scored only 6 runs off 25 balls and India lost that match eventually. Now, a fan shared that scorecard and asked: “any word on your goated innings in the semi-final?” In reply to that, Dinesh Karthik said: “Delete this right now” with an emoji. However, he recently opened up about the player who can replace injured Shreyas Iyer in playing Xi for the series opener.

While speaking to Cricbuzz, Dinesh Karthik said: “In case Shreyas Iyer is not fit, there is going to be a toss-up between Suryakumar Yadav and Shubman Gill. I personally feel we should play Suryakumar because he is a great player of spin and we are going to play on some interesting wickets that are going to support spin. Give him the opportunity. He has been in red-hot form.”

“The beauty of Indian cricket right now is that somebody who’s in such red-hot form might not be a starter in a format. I feel that Gill is aware that KL Rahul has obviously had a long lineage and has been around for some time. He has done well in tough conditions like those in England. He has not had the best of times in Test cricket in the recent past, but it will still be KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma opening,” Dinesh Karthik concluded.
