The upcoming ODI World Cup is going to happen in India later this year. So, all teams are preparing to fight for the cup. However, still, whether Pakistan will come for the World Cup is not clear due to the current debacle about the Asia Cup 2023. The Men in Blue are not going to visit Pakistan for the Asia Cup. Hence, as per the latest development, the tournament might happen without Pakistan.
India even rejected the hybrid model that the Men in Green advised. So, in a recent interaction with a channel, the PCB chairman, Najam Sethi claimed that if India do not agree with the hybrid model or do not visit Pakistan, then their Government might not give them NOC to visit India for the World Cup. But, now, in the latest interaction with Radio City India, the former Pakistan pacer, Shoaib Akhtar predicted India vs Pakistan clash for the final of the upcoming ODI World Cup. However, it is not the first time that Shoaib Akhtar has wished for an India vs Pakistan final in the World Cup 2023. In an old interview with Sports Today, Akhtar said: “India and Pakistan will play the final in the Asia Cup and also in the World Cup. India will come to Pakistan (for Asia Cup) and Pakistan will also travel to India for the World Cup. I am very hopeful that things will improve between India and Pakistan, and trade will open. I urge people from both sides to spread positivity and close the gap instead of burning bridges.”
“I want to take revenge for the 2011 World Cup, I hadn’t played in that match. I want to watch the India vs Pakistan final in Wankhede or Ahmedabad, wherever it happens in India. I will try my level best to watch the final,” he further added.
