Indian Cricket Board honorary secretary Jay Shah recently addressed the media in a press conference stating major preparation updates for the upcoming 2023 ODI World Cup. Among the many updates, fans have been eagerly waiting for ticket sales. As such, Shah dropped a major update. The upcoming World Cup will not have e-Tickets and fans will have to retain physical copies to get admission into stadiums on match days.
“We can’t use e-tickets this time around but will ensure to have physical tickets redemption at 7-8 centers well in advance. But the physical ticket needs to be retained. It will get difficult to manage e-tickets at high-capacity venues like Ahmedabad and Lucknow. Our plan is to start using e-tickets more in bilaterals first and then take it to multi-nation events like the World Cup,” he said.
“We had a word with the state associations today on the tickets. 90% of the associations came with the manifests and 1-2 didn’t have it ready. We have given them time till Monday to sort it out. The Apex Council and Indian Board will then jointly announce ticket pricing and everything. The ticketing partner is also almost sorted,” he added.
Fans will be provided free drinking water in ODI World Cup 2023
Speaking further, Jay Shah said that the Indian Cricket Board is planning on providing free drinking water for fans during the ODI World Cup 20923. “We will tie up with a company like Coca-Cola, which is the official partner of ICC too. Coca-Cola’s water brand Kinley will be served in the stands. That’s what we are trying. Whether it will be a packaged water bottle or by the glass, we will get to know soon because there are some constraints with regard to the bottle. Whatever it will be, it will be completely free,” he said.
The ODI World Cup 2023 will be solely hosted by India from October 5 to November 19. The opener between England and New Zealand will be played at the Narendra Modi Stadium, the world’s largest cricket arena. At the same time, the final will also be hosted at the same venue.
