On 27 April 2023, Rajasthan Royals (RR) hosted Chennai Super Kings in the ongoing IPL. The 37th match of the tournament took place at Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur. Before this clash, CSK were in the top spot at the table with 10 points from seven games. While RR were on the third spot with eight points in seven games.

However, in the reverse fixture, RR defeated CSK at Chepauk. So, it was a chance for Sanju Samson and his men to do a double over MS Dhoni and his men. Speaking of the match, Sanju won the toss and opted to bat first. For the home side, Jos Buttler and Yashasvi Jaiswal came out as openers.

RR defeated CSK by 32 runs

Jaiswal was in a different mood from the first over as he played some delightful shots all around the park. No CSK bowlers managed to trouble him as he was all over them within the powerplay overs. Buttler failed cheaply once again as he scored 27 runs off 21 balls. Jaiswal scored 77 runs off 43 balls, including eight fours and four sixes. Then, Dhruv Jurel scored 34 runs off 15 balls, including three fours and two sixes. In the end, Devdutt Padikkal scored 27* runs off 13 balls and RR scored 202 runs for five wickets in 20 overs. For CSK, Tushar Deshpande took two wickets for 42 runs while both Maheesh Theekshana and Ravindra Jadeja grabbed one wicket each.

In reply, CSK batters failed to give a solid start as they lost four wickets for 73 runs in 10.4 overs. Ruturaj Gaikwad scored 47 runs off 29 balls but other batters failed to score. Both, Ravichandran Ashwin and Adam Zampa looked in full rhythm as CSK reached 98 runs in 13 overs. But, Moeen Ali and Shivam Dube started to play some counter-attacking shots and stitched a 51-run partnership. Ali got out on 23 runs off 12 balls. Then, other batters showed some fight but CSK scored 170 runs for six wickets in 20 overs. Thus, RR won the match by 32 runs. Shivam Dube scored 52 runs off 33 balls, including two fours and four sixes.
