Brevis' knock included 12 fours and eight gigantic sixes at a strike rate of 223.21. In the chase, Australia could score only 165 runs as they lost the game by a whopping 53-run margin. With this comfortable win, South Africa broke their six-match losing streak against Australia.

With this unbeaten knock, Brevis also went on to register the highest T20I score in Australia, which was previously held by Shane Watson, who scored 124 runs against India in Sydney back in 2016.

Also, Brevis was just 22 years old, and at 22 years and 105 days old, the dashing batter became the youngest player from South Africa to score a century in T20Is. Also, Brevis took 41 balls to reach his century, becoming the second fastest centurion for South Africa in T20Is, while David Miller still holds the record for a 35-ball hundred against Bangladesh in 2017.

Additionally, Brevis also became the first batter to score a century against Australia in Australia in T20Is. He also registered the highest T20I score against Australia, breaking the record held by Ruturaj Gaikwad.

“I haven't thought about it to be honest (on having the highest score for South Africa in T20Is). Really grateful and thankful to god for winning tonight. We want to win and to come back stronger after the first game. Everyone played a part and we took our catches. They are great players and they hit the ball hard and over the ropes, we have to be on it in this format. We played well today, so it's great,” Dewald Brevis said after the game.

“The boys just found themselves laughing on the side. He (Brevis) hits it miles, quite a freakish display. It's scary, he will keep getting better, hell of a ball-striker,” Aiden Markram said after the match.
