Deep Dasgupta picks his Indian XI for ENG vs IND 2025 1st Test, includes 2 spinners

For the first Test series match against the England National Cricket Team, former India National Cricket Team wicketkeeper-batsman Deep Dasgupta has selected his favourite India playing XI. Surprisingly, Deep Dasgupta has selected return player Karun Nair at number three and left out emerging batting sensation Sai Sudharsan from his squad. Surprisingly, he also included 2 spinners in his playing XI.

Headingley, Leeds, will host the opening match of the five-match Test series, which is due to start on June 20. In his playing XI for the first Test match between India and England, Dasgupta selected three frontline pacers and two spinners; however, he made several obvious exclusions.

“I have been thinking over the last few days who I would play between Karun Nair and Sai Sudharsan. I will go with Karun Nair. He has the experience, is playing after such a long time, and you might as well play him if he is in the team. Sai Sudharsan is 23 years old and is in good form. You want to use that form properly, but I will still go with Karun,” Deep Dasgupta said on Star Sports.

In his playing XI, the former Indian wicketkeeper chose to add two spinners, Ravindra Jadeja and Kuldeep Yadav. Unless and until the conditions were too seam-friendly, he supported the latter being in the starting lineup for every game. Furthermore, Dasgupta went with Nitish Kumar Reddy in place of Shardul Thakur in his lineup. Arshdeep Singh had nowhere to go because his three pace alternatives were Bumrah, Siraj, and Krishna.
