On 15 April 2023, the stage was set at the Chinnaswamy Stadium where Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) took on Delhi Capitals (DC). It was the 20th match of the ongoing IPL. After winning their season opener, RCB lost their last two matches. On the other hand, DC lost all of their first four matches.

So, both teams were looking for a win. However, fans were expecting a high-scoring affair as both teams were filled with top batters. Speaking of the match, Warner won the toss and asked RCB to bat first. Wanindu Hasaranga got a chance in RCB Playing XI while Mitchell Marsh made a comeback to DC Playing XI. 

Fifth consecutive loss for DC in IPL 2023

For RCB, Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis came out for the opening. But, du Plessis failed to score big as he got out after scoring 22 runs off 16 balls, including three fours and one six. Then, Kohli continued his good form with the bat as he scored 50 runs off 34 balls, including six fours and one six. Followed by these two, other batters came up with some contributions as RCB scored 174 runs for six wickets in 20 overs. For DC, both Mitchell Marsh and Kuldeep Yadav grabbed two wickets each. Along with them, Axar Patel and Lalit Yadav picked up one wicket each.

In reply, the skipper David Warner and Prithvi Shaw came out to open the innings. Shaw was not in the initial playing XI as DC used him as an impact player. But, he failed to do something special as Shaw managed a two-ball duck. After him, Warner and Mitchell Marsh went back to the dugout early. Only Manish Pandey played a stable knock and scored 50 runs off 38 balls, including five fours and one six. Axar Patel also scored just 21 runs off 14 balls, including three fours. Apart from them, no batters managed to score big, and finally, DC scored 151 runs in 20 overs for nine wickets. Thus, RCB defeated DC by 23 runs.
