On Wednesday, November 5, the International Cricket Council (ICC) announced that the New Zealand batting all-rounder Daryl Mitchell has achieved a career-best third rank in the ICC ODI Batting Rankings after propelling his team to a 3-0 series win over England.
For the uninitiated, Mitchell scored 56* in the second ODI in Hamilton while he smacked a 44-run knock in the third and final ODI in Wellington as he surged two spots up and ended the series with a total of 178 runs, winning the player of the series award.
His teammate, Rachin Ravindra, also achieved a career-best 14th rank after his knocks of 44 and 56 in the last two ODIs against England. On the other hand, South African batter Quinton de Kock moved to the 19th rank with a 63-run knock in the first ODI against Pakistan.
The top-order batter Fakhar Zaman has surged one slot to 26th rank, while the former skipper Salman Agha has achieved a career-best 30th position after moving nine positions up with a Player of the Match award after scoring 62 from 71 balls in the first ODI vs SA.
Speaking about the ODI bowling rankings, England pacer Jofra Archer’s three-wicket haul in Hamilton has lifted him two places to a career-best-equalling third position, while Pakistan’s Naseem Shah moved 10 spots up to the 33rd rank. New Zealand star pacer Jacob Duffy surged 25 places to the 39th rank. Saurabh Netravalkar of the US moved up three places to 17th rank.
In the ICC Men’s T20I Player Rankings, West Indies top-order batter Shai Hope has reached a career-best 12th position among batters.
Afghanistan players Rahmanullah Gurbaz moved up three places to the 15th rank and Ibrahim Zadran surged six places to the 20th rank, while Pakistan’s Babar Azam moved up 10 places to the 35th rank and Saim Ayub rocketed 10 places to the 39th rank.
Among the bowlers, Pakistan fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi rocketed three places to the 13th rank, Afghanistan spinner Mujeeb Ur Rahman surged 13 slots to the 14th rank, West Indies fast bowler Jason Holder moved up nine places to the 23rd rank, and Zimbabwe’s Sikandar Raza moved up 32 places to the 33rd rank.
