Chennai Super Kings (CSK) defeated Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) to win their fourth IPL trophy. Post the win, the cricket fraternity sent out congratulatory messages to the franchise. Cricket South Africa (CSA) also congratulated the team for the win. However, they did something that’s completely unexplainable. They tagged CSK bowler Lungi Ngidi in the post but omitted the other two South Africans Faf du Plessis and Imran Tahir, who were also part of the franchise. “Congratulations @lungingidi on claiming the 2021 IPL with Chennai Super Kings”, read the caption.

Even though the post was deleted later, it caught the attention of Faf du Plessis, who was puzzled by his omission. Even Dale Steyn lashed out at the CSA for their unacceptable behaviour.

“Really???”, du Plessis responded. “Who’s running this account? Last I checked Faf isn’t even retired, Imran isn’t retired, both these guys have given years of service to CSA and they not worth a mention? Disgusting”, Steyn commented.

Notably, Ngidi played just three games for CSK in IPL 2021, while picking up five wickets. In the UAE leg, he didn’t feature in a single game. Meanwhile, Faf du Plessis played a pivotal role in CSK's run to the title and was the second-highest run-getter of the tournament with 633 runs at a strike rate of 138.

In the final, he played a blistering knock of 56-ball 86 to help CSK post a daunting target. Despite Faf's tremendous form this year, he has not been included in the South Africa squad for the International T20 Cup.
