Recently, the former Team India skipper, Sourav Ganguly had a chat with India Today just after the final loss at the Oval. But, during that conversation, Ganguly came and shared his wish to see Hardik Pandya playing the red-ball format. He also emphasised that especially in overseas Tests, he would have wanted Pandya for the Men in Blue.

Hardik Pandya last played in Tests in 2018 against England

Sourav Ganguly said: “And I hope Hardik Pandya is listening. I want to see him play Test cricket, especially in these conditions as well." Pandya last played for India in the longest format of the game against England at Southampton in 2018. After that, due to several injury setbacks, he is yet to make a comeback in Tests. However, in both the ODI and T20Is, he has made a comeback. Even, in the IPL, he has done well, especially in guiding Gujarat Titans (GT) over the last two editions. In 2022, he won the title while in the recently concluded season, his team was the runners-up as Chennai Super Kings (CSK) defeated them in the final.

After the recent home T20I series win against the Kiwis, Pandya shared an update on his comeback to the red-ball format. While speaking to reporters, Pandya said: "I will come (back) when I feel (it's) the right time to play Test-match cricket. Right now, I'm going to focus on white-ball cricket, which is important, and if time is right and body is fine, I'll give (the long format) a try." Till now, this star Team India all-rounder has played 11 Tests while scoring 532 runs and taking 17 wickets.
