On 26 June 2023, Zimbabwe locked horns with the USA in the 50-over World Cup qualifier at the Harare Sports Club. Zimbabwe came to this clash by booking their place already in the ‘Super Six’ stage by winning the first three matches. While the USA were still winless and they were looking for a win.

Speaking of the match, the USA skipper Monank Patel won the toss and opted to field first. For the host, Innocent Kaia and Joylord Gumbie came out as openers. Their first wicket fell after 56 runs on the board in 13.1 overs. Kaia scored 32 runs off 41 balls, including one six and one four. Then, Sean Williams came out to bat at the number three position. 

Sean Williams has now smashed two centuries in four WC Qualifies 

He and Kaia put up a partnership of 160 runs for the second wicket. Gumbie scored 78 runs off 103 balls, including five fours. After that, Sikandar Raza came out and scored 48 runs off 27 balls, including five fours and two sixes. He also stitched a partnership of 88 runs for the third wicket. Then, Ryan Burl played a blistering knock of 47 runs off 16 balls, including three fours and four sixes while stitching a partnership of 81 runs for the fourth wicket. But, Sean Williams was still batting as he continued his rich form.

Before this clash, Williams scored 102*, 91, and 23 runs respectively in the last three matches. So, he continued that form and scored fifty off just 33 balls. Then, he completed the century off 65 balls and 150 runs off 87 balls. But, he failed to score a well-deserved double century as Wiliams got out on 174 runs off 101 balls, including 21 fours and five sixes. Finally, Zimbabwe scored 408 runs for six wickets in 50 overs. For the USA, Abhishek Paradkar took three wickets while Jessy Singh grabbed two wickets and Nosthush Kenjige grabbed one wicket. Thus, Zimbabwe posted the highest-ever total in ODIs in their history.
