Indian boxers Ashish Kumar (75Kg), Mohammed Hussamuddin(57Kg) and Sumit Sangwan (81Kg) had to contend with the silver medals as they were forced to pull out of the summit clashes of the 35th Boxam International Tournament in Castellon, Spain after Olympic bound, Ashish Kumar tested positive for the coronavirus. "What started as a great competition has ended in an anti-climax," Indian boxing's High Performance Director Santiago Nieva told PTI from Castellon.

Ashish has not shown any symptoms of the virus and is currently under quarantine in Castellon. He will return to India after serving his quarantine period. On the other hand, the reports of Hussamuddin and Sumit came negative thus they are travelling back home with the team.

Manish Kaushik (63Kg) was the only Indian to win gold after he defeated Denmark’s Nikolai Terteryan in the finals while Vikas Krishan (69Kg) lost his match after a hard fought battle with Spain’s Youba Sissokho. Indian women boxer, Simranjit Kaur(60Kg) also had to withdraw her name from the summit clash after her semi final opponent Kiria Tapia of Puerto Rico tested positive for coronavirus. Pooja Rani (5Kg) and Jasmine (57 Kg) also signed off with silver medals after losing to American Melissa Graham and Italian Irma Testa respectively. India won one gold, eight silver and one bronze in the competition.
