Masood said that how their home Test series against England made them understand the importance of playing an aggressive brand of cricket in Tests. He said: "I think at the end of the day, it comes down to the team, the team requirements. Where we had to improve as a team. The last Test cycle gave us a big reflection and management was very firm that one of the things that we were lacking was that we were not scoring at such a high rate as our opposition. So, there was a concentrated effort. Some guys were given a grant to play cricket in England but the rest of the guys put in a lot of hard work in two skill camps that were based in Lahore and eventually in Karachi. The emphasis was on scoring runs".

"Coming into these conditions in Sri Lanka, one thing they do really well is that they hold the oppositions to miserly run rates and get the wickets as well. So, yes we lost wickets, but that way of playing kept us in the game. And once we got one healthy partnership the two teams were in an even stage at the end of day's play," he further added.

"Saud and Agha have made subtle changes to their batting that have helped them to score quickly and put us in a good position. We like to play a brand of cricket which helps us to win. Galle is a wicket where one ball has your name on it. When Test matches are moving at a fast rate it is important that you keep pace,” Masood concluded.
