On 29 May 2023, the final of the ongoing IPL took place between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Gujarat Titans (GT) at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad. Initially, it was scheduled to happen on 28 May but due to rain, it got shifted to the reserve day.  However, despite all of this, fans turned up and enjoyed every bit of the final so far.

All the scheduled programs also took place before and after the first innings of the match as many reputed singers like King, and Jonita Gandhi performed. So, the secretary of the Indian Cricket Board, Jay Shah came up with an appreciation tweet for fans. But, as the game got paused due to rain after just three balls into the second innings, fans were not happy and slammed Shah for organising such programs.

Speaking of the tweet, Shah wrote: “Fans are the backbone of @IPL. Unmatched dedication by our fans as they kept calm till the very end on a rain-washed Sunday & came back today! As we pull the curtain to another exciting season, a big thank you to all for their unwavering support throughout. @BCCI #IPL2023Final.” Speaking of the match, MS Dhoni won the toss and asked GT to bat first. Sai Sudharsan played an outstanding knock of 96 runs off 47 balls, including eight fours and six sixes.

His knock helped GT to score 214 runs for four wickets in 20 overs. He also stitched two solid partnerships with Wriddhiman Saha and Hardik Pandya for the second and third wicket respectively. It was the highest-ever total in IPL history while batting first in a final. Wriddhiman Saha also played a solid knock of 54 runs off 39 balls, including five fours and one six. For CSK, Matheesha Pathirana grabbed two wickets while both Ravindra Jadeja and Deepak Chahar took one wicket each. CSK scored four runs off the first three balls and then, rain paused the game.
