Moeen Ali came out of retirement in the longest format of the game as he made a comeback to the Test format. He is currently busy playing in the ongoing first Ashes Test at Edgbaston. In 2021, he took retirement but still, has managed a decent game with both the bat and the ball. On day two, he also picked up two wickets.

But, on day three, news came out that the star all-rounder has been fined 25% of his match fees for breaching the Apex Council of Cricket’s Code of Conduct. He was seen applying a drying agent to his bowling hand at the boundary line during fielding. Listening to such news, fans shared their views on social media.

Speaking about his return to the red-ball format, the Managing Director of England Men’s Cricket, Rob Key said: “We reached out to Mo (Moeen Ali) early this week about returning to Test cricket. Having had a couple of days to reflect, Mo is excited to join the squad and play Test cricket again. His vast experience, along with his all-round ability, will benefit our Ashes campaign. We wish Mo and the rest of the squad well for the Ashes campaign.”

Speaking of the match, with the bat,   he scored 18 runs off 17 balls, including two fours and one six. While with the ball, he has taken two wickets so far. Jack Leach got injured ahead of the series and hence, he got ruled out. Ali came in as a replacement for the left-arm spinner. England won the toss and declared after scoring 393 runs for eight wickets in 78 overs. In reply, the Aussies finished day two with a score of 311 runs for five wickets in 94 overs. Usman Khawaja and Alex Carey were the overnight batters. Khawaja was not out after scoring a century while Carey finished the day with an unbeaten 50-plus score.
