India’s campaign in the Champions Trophy 2025 will begin against Bangladesh on Thursday, February 20, at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai. India is placed in Group A, along with Bangladesh, Pakistan, and New Zealand.
On February 11, India announced its final squad for the 50-over event. Ace pacer Jasprit Bumrah has been ruled out of the tournament due to a lower back injury. Harshit Rana has been picked in the squad as his replacement. Rana made his ODI debut during the first ODI match against England this month and became the first Indian bowler to pick a three-wicket haul on debut in all three formats.
Varun Chakaravarthy, who has been in terrific form in T20Is for India, has been included in the squad as well. He replaced Yashasvi Jaiswal, who was a part of the preliminary squad. Chakaravarthy has taken a total of 31 wickets in 12 T20I matches for India since 2024.
Here are three out-of-form Indian players who are a part of the Champions Trophy
1. Rishabh Pant
Pant has played a total of 31 ODIs for India and has amassed 871 runs at an average of 33.50. He has not been in the best of form in this format of the game. Pant last played an ODI game for India back in August 2024 against Sri Lanka and managed just six runs. He has not been a regular in India’s white-ball squad and last played a T20I game in July last year after the completion of the T20 World Cup.
2. Kuldeep Yadav
Kuldeep has played just five ODI matches for India since 2024 and has taken six wickets at an average of 35.5. He has not played a T20I game for India this year and took 11 wickets in six games last year. After the inclusion of Chakaravarthy, India now has a total of five spinners in the squad. Kuldeep might not be a part of the playing 11 in the first game against Bangladesh.
3. Virat Kohli
Kohli is known to deliver when it matters the most. However, luck and form have not been on his side in the last few months. He played a total of 23 matches across formats last year and managed just 655 runs at an average of 21.83. This came after a stupendous performance in 2023 when he made over 2000 runs across formats, which included eight centuries and 10 half-centuries.
