India emerged as the Champions Trophy 2025 winners after defeating New Zealand by four wickets in the final in Dubai. Rohit Sharma led from the front during India's chase of 252 runs, scoring a crucial 76-run knock, which earned him the Player of the Match award.

Meanwhile, New Zealand’s Rachin Ravindra won the Player of the Tournament award for his all-round brilliance, scoring 263 runs and taking three wickets. New Zealand won the toss and opted to bat first. Despite losing wickets at regular intervals, they managed to post a competitive total of 251/7 in 50 overs. 

Daryl Mitchell anchored the innings with a patient 63 off 101 balls, while Michael Bracewell provided a late flourish with a counter-attacking 53* off 40 balls. For India, Varun Chakravarthy and Kuldeep Yadav picked up two wickets each, while Ravindra Jadeja and Mohammed Shami claimed one apiece.

Let’s take a look at India’s chase

India started strongly in response, with Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill putting up a solid 105-run opening stand in 18.4 overs. Gill fell for 31 off 50 balls, dismissed by an outrageous catch from Glenn Phillips. Soon after, Virat Kohli was dismissed for just one run off two balls. Rohit continued to look strong but eventually fell for 76 off 83 deliveries.

Shreyas Iyer (48 off 62), Axar Patel (29 off 40), and KL Rahul (34* off 33) kept the chase steady. Hardik Pandya added a quick 18 off 18 balls before Ravindra Jadeja sealed the victory with an unbeaten nine off six balls, hitting the winning shot with an over to spare.

With this triumph, India secured their third Champions Trophy title. On an individual level, both Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli now have four ICC trophies to their names.
