Chasing 352, all eyes were on Travis Head and skipper Steve Smith, but both fell cheaply. However, the rest of the Australian batting lineup stepped up to script a historic run chase. Marnus Labuschagne and Matthew Short added 95 runs for the third wicket, with Labuschagne missing his fifty by just three runs, while Short scored 63 off 66 balls.

The real match-winning partnership came from wicketkeeper-batters Josh Inglis and Alex Carey, who put together 146 runs for the fifth wicket. Carey departed after scoring 69 off 63, but Inglis stayed unbeaten till the end, smashing 120* off 86 balls.

Maxwell added the finishing touches with a blistering cameo of 32* off just 15 deliveries, helping Australia chase down the highest-ever total in Champions Trophy history.
