The final of the Champions Trophy 2025 saw India take on New Zealand on Sunday, March 9, at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai. Rohit Sharma lost the 12th toss on the trot, and New Zealand elected to bat after winning the toss.
New Zealand finished with 251 runs for the loss of seven wickets in 50 overs. Daryl Mitchell was the highest scorer for the team and scored 63 runs off 101 deliveries. Michael Bracewell provided the finishing touch to the innings with his unbeaten knock of 53 runs off 40 deliveries.
On the bowling front, Varun Chakaravarthy and Kuldeep Yadav were the pick of the bowlers for the Indian team. Both the spinners took two wickets each. Ravindra Jadeja and Mohammed Shami picked one wicket each.
Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill provided a fiery start to the team and added 101 runs for the first wicket. Things slowed down as India lost three quick wickets by the time the 27th over was completed. The middle order, containing Shreyas Iyer, Axar Patel, and KL Rahu,l took the responsibilities on their shoulder and ensured India crossed the line.
Ravindra Jadeja hit a boundary off the last delivery of the penultimate over to seal the game for the Men in Blue. India became the first team to win the Champions Trophy three times.

Rohit Sharma - Player of the Match award in Final
Rohit once again provided India with a solid start in the tournament. However, this time, he tried his best to remain in the middle for a long period. This helped him pile up his fifth half-century in the Champions Trophy.
Rohit scored 76 runs off 83 deliveries and hit seven boundaries and three sixes. He added 105 runs for the first wicket along with Shubman Gill. Rohit won the Player of the Match award for his batting performance.
It was his 25th Player of the Match award in ODIs. Also, he became only the fourth captain after Clive Lloyd, Ricky Ponting, and MS Dhoni to win the Player of the Match award in the final of an ICC event. Rohit is now only the second Indian captain after Dhoni to win multiple ICC trophies.
Rachin Ravindra - Player of the Tournament and Golden Bat awards
Rachin Ravindra ended his Champions Trophy 2025 campaign with a knock of 37 runs off 29 deliveries in the final against India. Rachin finished as the leading run-scorer in the tournament and made 263 runs in four games at an average of 65.75 and a strike rate of 106.47. He missed the first game of the tournament for New Zealand.
He hit two centuries in his four outings in the tournament. Rachin hit 29 boundaries, the most by a batter in this edition of the tournament. He won the Golden Bat award as well, which is awarded to the Player who scores the most runs in the Champions Trophy.
Matt Henry - Golden Ball award
Golden Ball is awarded to a bowler who takes the most wickets in the Champions Trophy. New Zealand’s pacer Matt Henry won the Golden Ball award for his bowling performance in the tournament. He took 10 wickets in four games at an average of 16.70. Henry missed the final against India but made a solid impact with the ball for the runner-ups.
